Our on-the-water courses are taught on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay out of Alexandria, Virginia. Our classroom sessions, including ASA 105 Coastal Navigation, are held at 201 N Union St., Suite 110, Alexandria, VA, or virtually using Google Meet.

No prior sailing experience is required. ASA 101 – Basic Keelboat Sailing is designed for complete beginners. ASA 101 is a prerequisite to be eligible to take the certification exam for ASA 103.

You will receive an official American Sailing Association (ASA) certification or endorsement for each course you successfully complete.

ASA 101 covers basic keelboat sailing, and prepares you well for short day sailing.
ASA 103 focuses on coastal cruising skills, and prepares you for more advanced and independent cruising aboard larger boats, learning to navigate in coastal waters, and manage a variety of onboard systems.
ASA 105 teaches coastal navigation in great detail, and prepares you to explore new cruising grounds, confidently plan multi-day routes, and handle the ever-changing conditions of coastal waters.

Yes. We offer bundled course options such as the Skipper Foundation Bundle (ASA 101 + 103) and the Confident Cruiser Bundle (ASA 101 + 103 + ASA 118).

Yes. Many of our courses and bundles are available in private or semi-private formats for individuals or couples.

Yes. We offer refresher courses for all levels, including sailing fundamentals, cruising skills, navigation, and docking.

Bring closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, water, and a willingness to learn. Life jackets are provided.
