Heritage Sails offers professional sailing instruction and unforgettable on-the-water experiences on the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, including Alexandria, Washington, DC, and National Harbor. Rooted in seamanship, safety, and a love for sailing, we help students and guests build confidence while enjoying some of the most historic and scenic sailing waters in the country.

At Heritage Sails, we welcome sailors of all levels—from beginners discovering sailing to experienced sailors refining their skills. As an American Sailing Association–certified school, we’re passionate about sharing our knowledge and love of sailing.
We offer coastal cruising–focused training aligned with ASA standards and U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Rules, along with refresher courses, marlinspike training, leisure cruises, and yacht deliveries.
Our small-group, relaxed environment fosters community and support while building both technical skills and a deeper appreciation for the water and the power of the wind.
